Endodontics

Endodontics is the specialty treatment of the sensitive tissues within the teeth – the dental pulp, nerves, blood vessels, and connective tissues. These tissues can become damaged or infected when a tooth infection goes untreated, leading to severe tooth pain and even eventual tooth loss. Typically, the treatment for a tooth infection like this is a root canal, but contrary to popular belief, root canals are often not painful at all! Their purpose is to help get you out of pain, not cause it! At Desert Dental Group, we can provide gentle and quick root canals for patients who have an infected tooth so that they are no longer suffering.

Symptoms of a Tooth Infection

  • Toothache or pain
  • Sensitivity to hot or cold beverages
  • Discomfort when biting or chewing
  • Swelling of the cheek, neck, or face
  • Pus developing around teeth
  • An abscess forming

What is a Root Canal?

If you notice any of the above symptoms, your tooth infection may require a root canal to help get you out of pain. Luckily, our Hesperia and Victorville, CA office is staffed and equipped to give you a gentle, quick root canal solution. Thanks to our technology and sedation techniques, most patients find that their root canal ends up being virtually painless! As for the actual treatment, patients typically have their affected tooth numbed, and our doctor will make a small opening in the tooth to access the infection within. Using ultra-fine instruments, we can remove the infected tissue, cleanse the tooth canals, and restore the tooth with a biocompatible material called gutta-percha. This will often save the tooth from needing an extraction. After the tooth has been cleansed, your doctor will restore it with a dental crown, protecting the inside and restoring your ability to use your tooth like normal again.

Advanced Technologies to Make Treatment Easier

The use of state-of-the-art dental technology has made root canals simpler and more painless than ever before! Our modern practice utilizes some key technologies to ensure that your root canal is accurate, quick, and gentle. Some of the technologies you can benefit from as our patient include:

  • Computerized digital radiography
